Soccer Game Preview: Bishop McGuinness vs. Oak Grove

The Bishop McGuinness Villains will take on the Oak Grove Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Bishop McGuinness comes in on eight and Oak Grove on six.

Bishop McGuinness' defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Leadership Academy 8-0. Give Bishop McGuinness' defense some credit: that's the team's seventh straight shutout.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oak Grove). They put the hurt on Central Davidson with a sharp 9-0 victory on Monday. Victoria Lockamy was a massive factor in the win as she booted in five goals all by herself.

Oak Grove pushed their record up to 8-6-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four contests. As for Bishop McGuinness, their win bumped their record up to 13-2.

Everything went Bishop McGuinness' way against Oak Grove in their previous meeting back in March of 2022, as Bishop McGuinness made off with a 13-4 victory. Will the Villains repeat their success, or do the Grizzlies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
