Football Recap: Illinois Valley Central Comes Up Short at Home Against Monticello + How To Watch

Illinois Valley Central unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They received a blow on Friday as they fell 21-6 to the Monticello Sages. While losing is never fun, the Grey Ghosts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 364th, while the Sages are ranked 137th).

Illinois Valley Central didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Malikai Bremer and Cade Jackson.

Monticello can attribute much of their success to Heyden Romano, who picked up 102 receiving yards and one touchdown.
