Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Los Fresnos

Los Fresnos had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They came out on top against the Hanna Golden Eagles by a score of 67-57. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Falcons also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Los Fresnos to victory, but perhaps none more so than Andrew Munoz, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 19 points. Munoz's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Gio Galvan was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 13 boards.

Los Fresnos was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hanna only posted ten assists.

When it comes to explaining why Hanna lost, don't look at Daniel Torres. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. Those 21 points gave Torres a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rolando Roman, who posted 12 points.

Los Fresnos is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 31.9% in those games and 30.7% outside of them. As for Hanna, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 20-10 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing San Benito the next time they take the court. Hanna will host San Benito at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, while Los Fresnos will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th.
