Cibola and La Cueva are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. The Cibola Cougars will challenge the La Cueva Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Cibola is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Farmington, who was ranked 16th at the time (Cibola was ranked tenth). Cibola fell to Farmington 53-48.

The home team had won the previous seven meetings between La Cueva and Sandia, and La Cueva kept the tradition alive. La Cueva took a 52-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sandia on Saturday. The Bears' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Cibola will have to contain Tony Trujillo as he made an impact in La Cueva's last game. He almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine boards. Trujillo is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Drew Bramlett, who posted ten points.

La Cueva's defeat dropped their record down to 18-10. As for Cibola, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 18-10.

Cibola came out on top in a nail-biter against La Cueva in their previous meeting back in January, sneaking past 58-55. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cibola since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
