Softball Game Preview: Aptos Mariners vs. San Leandro Pirates

The Aptos Mariners will head out to square off against the San Leandro Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Aptos is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Argonaut by a score of 4-3 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mariners have posted since March 11th.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but San Leandro ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over University Prep.

Aptos pushed their record up to 18-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7.5 runs. As for San Leandro, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season.
