Baseball Recap: Freedom Comes Up Short

Freedom suffered their biggest defeat since March 13th on Monday. They came up short against the Wesley Chapel Wildcats, falling 22-7. The Patriots have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

David Simpkins made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Freedom's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 2-1 (and 8-11 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Brady Hall, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Freedom's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Wesley Chapel, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Freedom will square off against Strawberry Crest at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chargers have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season. As for Wesley Chapel, they will be playing at home against Steinbrenner at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
