Softball Preview: Volcano Vista Hawks vs. Cleveland Storm
The Volcano Vista Hawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cleveland Storm at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
On Tuesday, Volcano Vista had just enough and edged Atrisco Heritage Academy out 4-3. That's two games straight that Volcano Vista has won by just one run.
Audrianna Jim spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive pitching appearances.
At the plate, Sixx Arnold was incredible, going 1-for-2 with a home run, a stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Langley, who went 1-for-2 with a home run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cleveland, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Cibola on Tuesday and snuck past 9-8.
Volcano Vista's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-13. As for Cleveland, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 10-13.
