Softball Recap: Wilson Area Warriors vs. Southern Lehigh Spartans
Wilson Area was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They wound up on the wrong side of a rough 23-10 walloping at the hands of the Southern Lehigh Spartans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Wilson Area of the 11-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.
Wilson Area got a massive performance out of Aerynne Mays, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, a triple, and an RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Hoff, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.
Even though they lost, Wilson Area was hitting in the alleys and finished the game with four doubles. That's the most doubles they've managed all season.
On Southern Lehigh's side, they got a massive performance out of Torey Ritter, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Isabelle Witt was another key contributor, scoring four runs while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.
Wilson Area's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Southern Lehigh, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wilson Area will square off against Northwestern Lehigh at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Southern Lehigh, they will head out on the road to face off against Salisbury Township at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Salisbury Township is coming into the game with four straight defeats at home, meaning Southern Lehigh will have to defend against a team hungry for a win.
