Softball Recap: Hardin County Tigers vs. Lexington Tigers

Hardin County extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 7-9 in the process. They came up short against Lexington, falling 8-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Lexington this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-2 last Wednesday.

As for Lexington, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 26-12-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matches by six runs or more this season.

For Lexington's part, Lauren Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on 11 hits. Johnson has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 26 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kk Simko and Carly Williams did most of the damage at the plate: Simko got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Williams went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most doubles Williams has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennady Maness, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
