Baseball Recap: Gulf Has No Trouble Against Fivay

Gulf's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 20-5 margin over the Fivay Falcons. The Buccaneers haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Jaidon Sopjack made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). Sopjack was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gabe Nenno, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Timothy Carney JR, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Gulf now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Fivay, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, Gulf will venture away from home to take on Zephyrhills at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fivay, they will welcome Admiral Farragut at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
