Basketball Recap: Valparaiso Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Cadynce Clark and Lillian Barnes

Valparaiso and Hamilton Southeastern squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Valparaiso had to settle for second. They took a hard 57-39 fall against the Hamilton Southeastern Royals. The loss continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Royals: they've now lost eight in a row.

Valparaiso's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Lillian Barnes, who posted ten points, and Cadynce Clark, who had 11 points. Barnes has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.

Hamilton Southeastern's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kennedy Holman, who earned 11 points in addition to eight boards and six assists. That's the most rebounds Holman has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Maya Makalusky, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 16 points.

Valparaiso's loss dropped their record down to 19-8. As for Hamilton Southeastern, the win keeps them at an undefeated 27-0.

Valparaiso does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hamilton Southeastern, they have already played their next matchup, a 67-61 defeat against Warsaw on the 22nd.
