Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Willie Piggott and Isaiah Campbell-Finch Lead Tampa Catholic to Victory

Tampa Catholic lost to Wiregrass Ranch back in December of 2017, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Tampa Catholic Crusaders managed a 97-92 victory over the Wiregrass Ranch Bulls.

Leading Tampa Catholic to victory were Isaiah Campbell-Finch and Willie Piggott. Campbell-Finch almost dropped a double-double on 32 points and nine rebounds, while Piggott dropped a double-double on 29 points and 14 boards. That's the most boards Campbell-Finch has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sohan Alla, who went 6 for 8 on his way to 14 points.

Tampa Catholic was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wiregrass Ranch only racked up six assists.

When it comes to explaining why Wiregrass Ranch lost, don't look at Kj Smith. Despite the final result, he went 8 of 14 from beyond the arc en route to 41 points and five rebounds. Smith's afternoon made it 18 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kyden Wiley, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 12 points and seven boards.

Tampa Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.8 points per game. As for Wiregrass Ranch, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-6.

Coincidentally, Tampa Catholic and Wiregrass Ranch will both be playing Berkeley Prep the next time they take the court. Wiregrass Ranch will host Berkeley Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Tampa Catholic will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
