Soccer Game Preview: Cedar Ridge vs. Northwood

Cedar Ridge hasn't had much luck against Northwood recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Fighting Red Wolves will head out on the road to face off against the Chargers at 6:00 p.m. Cedar Ridge has given up an average of 3.5 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Cedar Ridge is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Wednesday. They lost 8-2 to Western Alamance. While losing is never fun, Cedar Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 156th, while Western Alamance are ranked seventh).

Kate Finnegan and Fleury Nicholson scored both of Cedar Ridge's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 35 goals.

Meanwhile, Northwood kept a clean sheet against Cummings on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Cavaliers with a sharp 9-0 win. Northwood might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by four goals or more this season.

Northwood has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 37 goals over those six games. As for Cedar Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9-1.

Cedar Ridge took their win against Northwood in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 9-6 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Fighting Red Wolves since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
