League recap: Yazoo County rises in state rank

4A Region 3 recap September 17, 2013

Yazoo County scaled the state rankings by moving to 118 from 155 this week, the biggest jump in 4A Region 3. The Panthers were able to make move up by besting Jim Hill 34-0.

Yazoo City extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating McClain, 52-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.

Greenwood's dynamic duo of Booker T. Chambers and Korey Robertson proved tough for Greenville-Weston to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Chambers threw for 179 yards and 4 touchdowns and Robertson had 65 yards receiving. Tyrone Weaver helped Greenwood's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 58 yards.

The Bulldogs' dynamic duo of Chambers and Robertson proved to be unstoppable against the Hornets, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

He was 8-12 with 1 interceptions.

Robertson was the best wideout in the league this week as Greenwood beat Greenville-Weston.

Chambers put up the best numbers through the air as Clinton Gatewood's team beat Shannon Williams' team.

Ladarius Galloway was the best running back in 4A Region 3 this week. He ran for 183 yards on 18 carries as Gentry bested the Hornets. Armond Wyms also contributed to the rushing game with 10 yards on the ground.

5-foot-8 quarterback Darius Wright of Yazoo City is the league leader in passing yards this season with 657. He has also thrown 13 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Sammie Epps. The Greenwood star has 10 catches for 285 yards.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Amanda Elzy takes on Greenwood. The Panthers are in fifth place, while the Bulldogs are in second place.

Tony Woolfolk's team took down the Mustangs 52-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Wright threw for 145 yards and 4 touchdowns in the win.
