Soccer Game Preview: Pacific Ridge vs. Orange Glen

The Pacific Ridge Firebirds will venture away from home to challenge the Orange Glen Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Pacific Ridge is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.

On Wednesday, Pacific Ridge sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over La Jolla Country Day. Given the Firebirds' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Torreys are ranked 599th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pacific Ridge hit La Jolla Country Day with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Max Pulvers, Alex Terlecky, and Aj Devich.

Meanwhile, Orange Glen kept a clean sheet against Escondido Charter on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 5-0 margin over the Tigers. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by three goals or more this season.

Pacific Ridge pushed their record up to 10-2-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those five games. As for Orange Glen, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.

Everything went Pacific Ridge's way against Orange Glen in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Pacific Ridge made off with a 5-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pacific Ridge since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
