Softball Recap: Oshkosh North Sets Scoring Season-High Against Manitowoc Lincoln

Oshkosh North won the last time they faced Manitowoc Lincoln and things went their way on Saturday too. The Spartans blew past the Ships 9-3. The Spartans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Kara Cummings made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off nine hits. Cummings was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Sophia Housworth was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Niemczyk, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Oshkosh North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.

Oshkosh North's win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3. As for Manitowoc Lincoln, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oshkosh North will face off against Neenah at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rockets will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Manitowoc Lincoln, they will head out on the road to challenge Ashwaubenon at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Jaguars' pitching crew has only allowed 0.4 runs per game this season, so the Ships' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
