Baseball Recap: Mohave Comes Up Short

Mohave extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 16 on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-15. They came up short against the Bradshaw Mountain Bears, falling 16-2. If the Thunderbirds were looking for revenge after losing 20-1 to the Bears when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Mohave saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabriel Frias, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

As for Bradshaw Mountain, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-11. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Bradshaw Mountain's side, Sammy Villafana made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Those nine strikeouts gave Villafana a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases.

While Mohave had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
