Softball Recap: Ocean City Has No Trouble Against Cedar Creek

After losing to Cedar Creek the last time they met, Ocean City decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Raiders were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Pirates on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raiders.

Jessica Mooney made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taylor Vaugh, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Leah Catto, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Ocean City's record now sits at 2-0. As for Cedar Creek, they dropped their record down to 0-4 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Ocean City will be playing in front of their home fans against Egg Harbor Township at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season. As for Cedar Creek, they will take on Vineland at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
