Softball Game Preview: Lone Peak Knights vs. Cyprus Pirates

The Lone Peak Knights will face off against the Cyprus Pirates at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lone Peak's hitters haven't had much luck over their past four games, but Wednesday's matchup will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lone Peak lost 12-2 to Cedar Valley on Tuesday.

Maggie Nelson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Cyprus ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top against Taylorsville by a score of 8-4 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The win was some much needed relief for the Pirates as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Breelyn ( Bree ) Garcia made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over eight innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last ten contests. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Calee Sharp was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Frankee Kelsch was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Cyprus lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Cyprus now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Lone Peak, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
