Baseball Recap: Weed Has No Trouble Against Dunsmuir

While Weed put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Dunsmuir. Weed blew past Dunsmuir 18-0. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.

Logan Bowles and Braeden Cordes were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Bowles pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Cordes struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Bowles a new career-high in strikeouts (four). At the plate, Bowles scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Cordes scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Cordes is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Mayson Aquila and Conner Hosino did most of the damage at the plate: Aquila went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Hosino scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs Hosino has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jackson Keen, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Weed's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Dunsmuir, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
