Baseball Recap: Barringer Blue Bears vs. Nutley Maroon Raiders
Barringer extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 4-15 in the process. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nutley Maroon Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Maroon Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-3 back in April.
Sergio Crisostomo made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.
As for Nutley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-12 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.
On Nutley's side, PJ Balsamo looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Balsamo a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
On the hitting side, Keith Jirataprasot and Nichoals Palumbo did most of the damage at the plate: Jirataprasot went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Palumbo got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most hits Jirataprasot has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Eugenio Roman, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.
Barringer does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Nutley, they will challenge Montclair at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
