Soccer Game Preview: McCallum vs. Bastrop

The McCallum Knights will head out on the road to challenge the Bastrop Bears at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. McCallum will be strutting in after a win while Bastrop will be coming in after a loss.

While McCallum's victory against Richards School for Young Women Leaders wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Knights never let Richards School for Young Women Leaders get on the board and left with a 1-0 win on Friday. The victory continues a trend for McCallum in their matchups with Richards School for Young Women Leaders: they've now won seven in a row.

Meanwhile, after soaring to four goals the game before, Bastrop was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They lost 6-0 to Anderson. While losing is never fun, Bastrop can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 595th, while Anderson are ranked 159th).

McCallum's win bumped their record up to 18-1-4. As for Bastrop, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-14-2 record this season.

Everything went McCallum's way against Bastrop in their previous matchup back in February, as McCallum made off with an 8-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
