The Windermere Wolverines will be taking part in a tournament against the Hagerty Huskies at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Windermere 2.5, Hagerty 1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Windermere is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Florida's top teams: Spruce Creek, who was ranked 11th at the time (Windermere was ranked sixth). Windermere walked away with a 7-3 victory over Spruce Creek on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won three in a row.
The team relied heavily on Jose Calzadilla, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Diego Borjas was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Hagerty put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over Lake Mary.
N. Rhodes was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was B. Levy, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Hagerty pushed their record up to 13-0 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Windermere, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Windermere has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Hagerty struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Windermere came out on top in a nail-biter against Hagerty in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 2-0. Will Windermere repeat their success, or does Hagerty have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
