Soccer Game Preview: Republic vs. Carthage

Republic will square off against Carthage at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Republic comes in on nine and Carthage on six.

Republic is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They came out on top against Kickapoo by a score of 3-1 on Thursday. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but Republic were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, Carthage kept a clean sheet against Joplin on Thursday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Eagles. Give Carthage's defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Carthage's win bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Republic, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.

Republic suffered a grim 4-1 defeat to Carthage in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Republic was down 3-0.
