Basketball Game Preview: Rocky Mountain Lutheran Eagles vs. Hi-Plains Patriots

The Rocky Mountain Lutheran Eagles will square off against the Hi-Plains Patriots at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Rocky Mountain Lutheran is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Elbert on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Rocky Mountain Lutheran lost 43-17 to Elbert. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Hi-Plains waltzed into their game on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They really took it to the Buffaloes for the full four quarters, racking up a 47-17 win. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Buffaloes are ranked 270th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rocky Mountain Lutheran better keep an eye on Serenity Hernandez. She was instrumental in Hi-Plains' win, going 6-for-12 en route to 19 points in addition to seven assists and six boards. The dominant performance gave Hernandez a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Henschel, who went 5-for-7 on her way to 11 points.

Hi-Plains was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Miami-Yoder only five assists.

Hi-Plains' victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Rocky Mountain Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 5-14.
