Football Game Preview: Covenant Christian Academy Lions vs. St. Edmund Fighting Blue Jays

The Covenant Christian Academy Lions will square off against the St. Edmund Fighting Blue Jays at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

St. Edmund will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Covenant Christian Academy extended their winning streak to five last Friday. The Lions breezed past Central Catholic to the tune of 49-6.

Braydon Percle was his usual excellent self, rushing for 205 yards and four touchdowns on only 14 carries. Those 205 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Peyton Clement, who threw for 90 yards and a pair of TDs.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but St. Edmund had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past the Panthers 62-18. Given the Fighting Blue Jays' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 107th, while the Panthers are ranked 249th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

St. Edmund's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Covenant Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
