Volleyball Recap: Toombs County Comes Up Short

Toombs County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the West Laurens Raiders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 2-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2022.

Toombs County might've come up short, but they didn't make it easy on West Laurens: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 29-27, 23-25, 15-12.

Toombs County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for West Laurens, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

Coming up, Toombs County is taking a road trip to face off against Dublin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West Laurens, they have already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against Islands on the 14th.
