Baseball Recap: Bridgewater-Raritan Takes a Loss

Bridgewater-Raritan fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Hillsborough on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 5-4. On the bright side, the four- run performance marked the Panthers' highest-scoring contest to date.

Matthew Lehberger was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3.

Bridgewater-Raritan dropped their record down to 0-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. Those road losses can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hillsborough, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bridgewater-Raritan will host Roxbury at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hillsborough, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Morristown at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
