Volleyball Recap: Monrovia Comes Up Short

Monrovia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Martinsville Artesians, falling 3-0. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Artesians from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-16, 25-21.

Josey Kizzee paced Monrovia's offense, picking up 12 kills. Kizzee got some help from Lidia Tonner and her 20 assists. Allie Kizzee controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Monrovia's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Martinsville, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monrovia will face off against Danville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Martinsville, they will take on Greenwood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
