Volleyball Recap: Union Red Hawks vs. South Christian Sailors
Union was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 30th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to the South Christian Sailors. The Red Hawks were not able to make up for their defeat to the Sailors from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.
The match finished with set scores of 25-1, 25-4, 25-5.
South Christian found their leader in sophomore Meg Schreur, who had seven digs and seven aces. Those seven aces set a new season-high mark for Schreur. Another player making a difference was Brooke VanderLaan, who had seven assists and three aces.
Union's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for South Christian, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-6.
Union and South Christian could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. The Red Hawks (ranked 606th) will meet Northview (ranked 63rd) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, South Christian will challenge Hudsonville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (44 vs. 8).
