Recap: Munster Mustangs vs. Washington Township Senators
The Munster Mustangs waltzed into their match Tuesday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They came out on top against Washington Township by a score of 62-49. Given Munster's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while Washington Township is ranked 212th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Gracyn Gilliard was her usual excellent self, scoring 32 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. The matchup was her 14th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cecilia Mason, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Washington Township lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Clair Klinger, who scored 15 points along with five assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Campbell, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Munster is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. As for Washington Township, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Munster's road trip will continue as they head out to face Crown Point at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. As for Washington Township, they will square off against Tri-Township at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Tri-Township will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
