Carlsbad waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the La Jolla Vikings.

Carlsbad not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept La Jolla between 18 and 19 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-19.

Roman Payne paced Carlsbad's offense, picking up seven kills. Payne got some help from Ben Sauerwine and his 23 assists. Sauerwine was also solid from the service line: he led the team with two aces.

Carlsbad's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 23-2. As for La Jolla, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.

Carlsbad didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Highland on the 22nd. As for La Jolla, they have also already played their next game, a 1-0 win against Scripps Ranch on the 22nd.
