Softball Recap: West Marion Extends Winning Streak to Three

West Marion waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Wesson Cobras with a sharp 16-8 win. The Trojans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cobras, too.

Izzy Pittman made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Pittman was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, McKenzie 'Bug' Stringer was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Maycee McKenzie was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and one double.

West Marion hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 12 consecutive matchups.

West Marion's victory bumped their record up to 16-8. As for Wesson, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

As of now, neither West Marion nor Wesson have any future games scheduled.
