Basketball Recap: 12 Straight Home Victories for Central Valley Academy

There's no place like home for Central Valley Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They took down the Camden Blue Devils 55-40 on Friday. The Thunder have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Blue Devils, too.

Central Valley Academy was led to victory by Brayden Smalls and Calvin Jacquays. Smalls went 9 for 13 on his way to 20 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals, while Jacquays posted 20 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Jacquays has scored at least a third of Central Valley Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luis Reitz, who had seven points and seven rebounds.

Central Valley Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 12 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Central Valley Academy pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points per game. As for Camden, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central Valley Academy will square off against Vernon-Verona-Sherrill at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Camden, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on East Syracuse-Minoa at 6:45 p.m. on January 21st.
