Softball Recap: El Segundo's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to 11

El Segundo had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.1 runs) and they went ahead and made it 11 on Wednesday. They blew past the North Saxons 15-3. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Jacy Lindsay tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, El Segundo got a massive performance out of Marilyn McCaverty, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four RBI. What's more, McCaverty posted three hits, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Kacey Ekstrom was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

El Segundo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in four consecutive contests.

El Segundo pushed their record up to 15-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for North, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

El Segundo has already played their next game, a 1-0 victory against Torrance on the 4th. As for North, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-6 defeat against South on the 4th.
