On Friday, Lourdes Academy faced the Palm Beach Lakes Rams in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Lourdes Academy was the victim of a rough 56-35 defeat at the hands of Palm Beach Lakes. Lourdes Academy found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 20 to 6 on offense.
Despite the loss, Lourdes Academy had strong showings from Luciana Picasso, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 16 rebounds, and Sophia Sandoval, who scored 17 points. Sandoval scored a full 48.6% of Lourdes Academy's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Ezria Pierre-louis was the offensive standout of the match as she dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Zuri Miller-Whiteside was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Lourdes Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Palm Beach Lakes, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Lourdes Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Central at 3:00 p.m. on November 25th. As for Palm Beach Lakes, they will square off against Doral Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Doral Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
