Baseball Recap: Christopher Hare Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Greenback

University School's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. They didn't even let the Greenback Cherokees on the board, marking the Buccaneers' second-straight 10-0 shutout. The Buccaneers haven't had any issues with the Cherokees recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Cole Stevenson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Christopher Hare was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braeden Brothers, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

University School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .577. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greenback only posted an OBP of .222.

University School's record now sits at 21-14. As for Greenback, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-14.

University School will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cherokees: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
