Basketball Recap: Alleghany Takes a Loss

Alleghany has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 67-61 heartbreaker at the hands of the Floyd County Buffaloes. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (58), the Cougars still had to take the loss.

Alleghany's defeat dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Floyd County, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Alleghany and Floyd County should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. Alleghany will challenge James River at 7:30 p.m. on Monday up 253 places (79 vs. 332). Meanwhile, Floyd County (ranked 94th) will meet Pulaski County (ranked 269th) at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
