Basketball Recap: Manchester Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Dre Mcghee and Jaedyn Terry

Manchester lost against Mt. Zion last Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Manchester Blue Devils fell just short of the Mt. Zion Eagles by a score of 72-70. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (63), the Blue Devils still had to take the loss.

Jaedyn Terry and Dre Mcghee certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Terry posted 20 points and seven rebounds, while Mcghee earned 20 points and eight boards. Terry's afternoon made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jhiere Terry, who put up eight points and seven boards.

Even though they lost, Manchester smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive rebounds in ten consecutive games.

Manchester's loss dropped their record down to 17-4. As for Mt. Zion, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-8.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Manchester will take on Macon County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Manchester knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten matchups -- so hopefully Macon County likes a good challenge. As for Mt. Zion, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Eagles challenge the Hawks on Wednesday. Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Mt. Zion likes a good challenge.
