Football Game Preview: Winneconne Wolves vs. Waupaca Comets

Winneconne has gone a perfect 5-0 against Waupaca recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Wolves will square off against the Comets at 7:00 p.m. Winneconne is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Winneconne's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They didn't even let Xavier on the board, marking the Wolves' second-straight 42-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won five games by 42 points or more so far this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Winneconne to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brody Schaffer, who rushed for 78 yards and three scores on only ten carries, and also threw for 140 yards and one TD. That's the most rushing touchdowns Schaffer has posted since back in October of 2024. Mason Mathe was another key rusher, rushing for 86 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven carries.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Waupaca). They blew past New London 28-8 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Comets have posted against the Bulldogs since September 4, 2015.

Waupaca's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Winneconne, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.

Winneconne strolled past Waupaca in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a score of 27-11. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
