It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Mount Pleasant had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 44-34 win over the Tuscola Mountaineers. The Tigers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

When it comes to explaining why Tuscola lost, don't look at Sam Trantham. Despite the final result, he rushed for 189 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.8 yards per carry. Trantham is becoming a predictor of the Mountaineers' success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is 3-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). Tuscola also got help from Elijah Pruitt, who showed off his sure hands for 167 receiving yards.

Mount Pleasant is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 29.7 points over those games. As for Tuscola, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.
