Baseball Recap: Center Grove Makes It 21 in a Row at Home

Center Grove faced Carmel in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Trojans came out on top against the Greyhounds by a score of 8-5. The victory was familiar territory for the Trojans, who have now won seven matchups in a row.

Drake McClurg was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carson Bush, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Center Grove hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carmel struck out nine times.

Center Grove pushed their record up to 15-2 with the win, which was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Carmel, they moved to 8-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Center Grove will square off against Plainfield at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Quakers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Trojans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Carmel, they will face off against Avon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Greyhounds 3.6, the Orioles 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
