Basketball Game Preview: Perry Panthers vs. Washington Tigers

The Perry Panthers just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Washington Tigers at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Perry is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.3 points per game this season.

On Thursday, Perry didn't have quite enough to beat Chaney and fell 52-50. While the Panthers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cowboys 15-10 in the first quarter.

Despite the defeat, Perry had strong showings from Luke Wolf, who posted 16 points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks, and Drake Jacobsen, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 16 points. Those three blocks gave Wolf a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Haley, who had six points.

Meanwhile, Washington had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They slipped by the Bulldogs 74-73.

Washington is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Perry, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Perry was able to grind out a solid win over Washington in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, winning 57-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Perry since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
