Basketball Preview: Grainger Grizzlies vs. Cherokee Chiefs
Grainger is 9-0 against the Chiefs since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The pair will face off at 6:30 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Grainger focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Saturday.
Grainger scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 76-40 victory over Carter. The victory was just what Grainger needed coming off of a 84-47 loss in their prior game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Grainger to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ava Dellinger, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dellinger has scored all season. Maribeth Stratton was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Cherokee's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Greeneville, falling 62-34. Cherokee was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-10.
Grainger's win bumped their record up to 9-15. As for Cherokee, they dropped their record down to 2-18 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Grainger against the Chiefs in their previous matchup back in January as the team secured a 72-34 win. Will Grainger repeat their success, or do the Chiefs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
