Softball Recap: Kennedy Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

With a playoff win on the line, Kennedy rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Piner Prospectors. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Titans.

Marilyn Rivas made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Rivas was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hannah Cornell, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Madelyn Montague was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Kennedy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Kennedy pushed their record up to 12-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Piner, with the loss, they broke their nine-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-9.

As of now, neither Kennedy nor the Prospectors have any future games scheduled.
