Softball Game Preview: Montebello Oilers vs. San Gabriel Matadors

The Montebello Oilers will face off against the San Gabriel Matadors at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Montebello will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Montebello turned things around against Alhambra on Tuesday. Neither they nor the Moors could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 7-7 draw.

Meanwhile, San Gabriel came up short against Mark Keppel on Tuesday, falling 19-1. The Matadors haven't had much luck with the Aztecs recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

San Gabriel's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. Montebello's tie makes their record 1-7-1 this season.

Everything went Montebello's way against San Gabriel when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Montebello made off with a 15-4 victory. Will Montebello repeat their success, or does San Gabriel has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
