Charleston has gone a perfect 7-0 against Champaign Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Trojans are taking a road trip to challenge the Maroons at 4:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Charleston sitting on four straight wins and Champaign Central on nine.
Charleston's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past St. Teresa 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won five contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Railyn Cox made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Charleston let Karley Eastman and Avery Beals run wild. Eastman scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Beals scored a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, Beals posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024.
Charleston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Teresa only posted an OBP of .056.
Meanwhile, Champaign Central got the win against Mattoon on Monday by a conclusive 14-4. The Maroons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by ten runs or more this season.
Like Charleston, Champaign Central also got a great game from a two-way player: Haley Helm. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Helm was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and seven RBI while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Grace Bandy was incredible, scoring a run while going 4-for-5. Jaila Davis was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Champaign Central's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Charleston, their record now sits at 9-3.
Wednesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Charleston has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. However, it's not like Champaign Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .580. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Charleston skirted past Champaign Central 8-6 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Maroons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
