Mountain Ridge has gone a perfect 3-0 against American Fork recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Sentinels will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cavemen at 3:30 p.m. Mountain Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.5 runs per game this season.
Mountain Ridge is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Lehi, who was ranked 16th at the time (Mountain Ridge was ranked sixth). The Sentinels came up short against the Pioneers on Friday, falling 17-7. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Sentinels, who until this matchup were averaging 3.83 runs allowed.
Tatyana Toala was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases and four runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Kelli Christiansen was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI.
Meanwhile, American Fork was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lehi.
American Fork saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kassidy Naylor, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Mountain Ridge has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 19-4 record this season. As for American Fork, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-18.
American Fork's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Mountain Ridge has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for American Fork, though, as they've been averaging only 3 strikeouts. Will Mountain Ridge keep running through batters, or will the Cavemen buck the trend?
Mountain Ridge took their win against American Fork in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 13-2 score. Will the Sentinels repeat their success, or do the Cavemen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
