After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Big Bear, University Prep was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with a 65-56 victory over the Academy for Academic Excellence Knights. The win was some much needed relief for the Jaguars as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

University Prep was led to victory by Joshua Okeke and Donald McFarlin. Okeke posted 22 points, while McFarlin scored 22 points. Another player making a difference was Chris Reyes, who had eight points.

University Prep's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 5-9. As for Academy for Academic Excellence, they dropped their record down to 2-6 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

University Prep and Academy for Academic Excellence will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Jaguars see the court they'll take on Hesperia Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2026. As for Academy for Academic Excellence, their break will end when they face Excelsior Charter at 5:30 p.m. on January 7, 2026.
