Preview: Springwood Wildcats vs. Lee-Scott Academy Warriors

Springwood is 0-10 against Lee-Scott Academy since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Springwood Wildcats will look to defend their home court against the Lee-Scott Academy Warriors at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Springwood's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matchups.

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Springwood ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Glenwood out 87-84. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Springwood has posted yet this season.

Springwood's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Micah Thomas, who scored 26 points along with seven assists and three steals. Thomas hasn't dropped below two steals for 13 straight games. Another player making a difference was Daniel Westbrook, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Lee-Scott Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Macon-East Montgomery Academy on Tuesday, taking the game 55-48. Given Lee-Scott Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while Macon-East Montgomery Academy is ranked 319th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lee-Scott Academy found their leader in underclassman Haiden Harper, who scored 35 points along with three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Harper has scored at least a third of Lee-Scott Academy's points. Chapman Harris was another key contributor, scoring a point along with seven rebounds and three blocks.

Springwood's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.8 points per game. As for Lee-Scott Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 19-2.

Springwood might still be hurting after the 77-56 defeat they got from Lee-Scott Academy when the teams last played two weeks ago. Will Springwood have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
